It is hard to believe that it was less than two months ago that the massive snowstorms hit and we were thigh-deep in snow and without power for several days. Because today, it was over 80°F with blazing sunshine.
I brought the yarn out and let it dry in the lovely warm breeze. In the natural light, the colours came completely to life, and then changed subtly as day melted into dusk…
Imagine my surprise when I received an email today telling me that my Freshly Cut Grass yarn has been featured in an Etsy Treasury. Well, no… wait… you don’t have to imagine — let me tell you: I squealed so loud that my husband didn’t know what to do with me and my children ran away up to their bedrooms!
So exciting! Thank you, Heather King, for choosing my yarn for your treasury!
No sooner had I begun to wax lyrical about Spring than the weather decided to teach me a lesson and get cold again. In honour of that, I dyed a new yarn.
In a still northern sea, the prow of a ship plows through cold waters, dividing the waves into a pale, frothing wake. The water is dark, foreboding… a deep blue broken by white wave caps, and chunks of silver-gray ice. Beautiful in its strength… beautiful, these endless Cold Waters.

I looked at the calendar today and realised that it was just a month ago that we were thigh-high in snow. And today? Today I am feeling all inspired by the signs of spring that are pushing through the dark earth with joyous determination. Go Spring!!!
I’ve been lucky enough to be able to grab some photos of the Garden in Spring combed top — the very first item to sell from my shop — being spun up by its new owner. I cannot tell you what a delight it is to see the colours I created being turned into yarn — so exciting!
I love the way the green is coming out so grassy — exactly what I’d hoped to achieve. And the purple, when it mixed into the pinks, looked absolutely divine.
